James MacArthur
Jr. Vice Commander - Army

James MacArthur enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and after completing training was sent to Vietnam.  He returned to the US in 1970 and was then assigned to Germany for three years. From Germany he was assigned to Fort Benning, GA where he volunteered to back to Germany for another three years.  Jim returned to Fort Dix, NJ in April of 1977 where he remained until he mustered out that year. Upon his discharge from the Army, Jim joined VFW Post 7552 in Hillsdale, NY where he currently holds the positions of Quartermaster, Adjutant and Service Officer.  He worked for the Town of Ancram as Highway Superintendent for twenty-five years.

Jim’s community service includes being a 40-year member of the Ancram Fire Company, member of the Columbia County Fire Fighters Association, President of the Church Council for St. John’s Lutheran Church, EMT for the community rescue squad and President of the Columbia County Highway Superintendent Association.

Jim has a daughter Jamie and four wonderful grandchildren: Vincent, Riley, Levi and Penelope.
