Les began his military service in the United States Army in
1968.After he was discharged in 1970, he joined the New York National Guard in
1974 and served until 2009. His eligibility for the Veterans of Foreign Wars is
from for two tours in Afghanistan (2008-2009) during Operation Enduring
Freedom. Les joined Middleville Memorial
Post 7220, in 2010, after being discharged from the military. He is a Bronze
Legacy life member and has served as the Post commander for the past 13 years.
In addition to
being the Commander of Post 7220, Les has served in the following positions:
· Junior Vice Commander Department of New York (2022-2023)
· Surgeon for Department of New York (2021-2022)
· 4th District Commander for Department of New York
(2016-2018)
· Assistant Sergeant at Arms for Department of New York
(2019-2020)
· Membership Vice Chairman for the Department of New York
(2016-2018)
· District 4 Chaplain (2014-2016)
· District 4 Inspection Committee member (2016-present)
· Chief of Staff and Chaplain for the Military Order of the
Cooties Pup Tent #2 Grand of New York
Les has also been active in his community as a member of
the West Canada Valley Central School Board for twenty years and was President
of the board for several years. He also
served on the Herkimer-Oneida-Montgomery B.O.C.E.S. Board of Education for
twenty years and Board President for a year and the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison Tri
County School Board Association for twenty years and President for two years.
Les is the proud father of two children Aric Duane
Crossett , Kollen Marie Crossett and step- children Derek John Day and Kristen
Marie Baker. He has seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
